Brew Turner

Brew Turner grew up in Ocean City, NJ. A town, only seven miles long, located in South Jersey. In such a small tourist town, great creations were being designed and fabricated at Phil Turner Displays, which was owned and operated by Brew's Father, Phil Turner.   Phil Turner Displays was the largest decorating Company in South Jersey. The company decorated malls and other types of stores fronts for all of the main holidays. This would involve in creating signs, displays and paintings on store front windows to building a Christmas wonderland in the main corridor. Phil Turner Displays also built the parade floats for all occasions including the Miss America Parade and the Presidential Inauguration Parade for President Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon, Carter and Ford.

Brew was fortunate to have the opportunity to gain his experience and knowledge under the hands of over 500 craftsmen , tradesmen and artists who was employed under the roof of the multi-room building where magic was being created. In this environment, enriched with artists, Brew learned how to airbrush, create murals, stage props, sculptures and decorate the high roller casino parties.

The opportunity given by Brew's father allowed him to gain a wealth of knowledge to enhance his natural born talent as an artist. The skills and confidence Brew gained under his father's wing made him have the mind set that there is nothing in the world to stop him from accomplishing his goals and dreams. Always wanting to be surrounded by palm trees, Brew decided to move to Florida to further his career in the Art Industry.

In Florida, Brew began to work for a small company as their commercial artist. Brew designed the small ads for junk mail while he waited for an opportunity to work for Disney. A proximately one year later an opening in the Disney's sculpting department became available and Brew got the job. He sculptured the Disney's animatronics characters for Euro-Disney and the swan and dolphin sculptures for the the Swan and Dolphin Resort in Disney. The making and refurbishing of props for the Magic Kingdom kept Brew busy until Disney decided to lay off the central shop employees and hire outside decorating companies to do the work.

Disney did not stop Brew from working, it inspired him to do free-lance work and be his own boss. Brew subcontracted with local decorating companies. He continued creating props, signs and other forms of artwork for different companies such as Sea World, Wonder Works, Universal Studios and trade shows. Brew became successful in his free-lance work until one night he was in a car accident. The guy who hit Brew was busy talking on a cell phone and not paying attention to the road. The guy slammed into the back of Brew's Toyota. Brew was in the middle of shifting gears when he was hit from behind. Brew was dazed and in shock, his wrist was shattered along with his career as a commercial artist. As a result of the collision Brew's wrist had to be reconstructed with a three inch plate and five bolts. The doctors took over six hours to repair his nerves and damaged tissue. Brew had to go to rehabilitation for his wrist for over two years. The limited movement in Brew's wrist cost him two and half years of work and limited his career as a commercial artist.

Brew adapted his career to his wrist. Brews determination to work in the art industry lead him to airbrushing. The airbrush allows him to paint as though he had full movement of his wrist. Brew's new venture led him to start his own business as a body painter. Brew decided to name his new business "Art World." With this new business Brew is still able to paint and take his art to a new level, by air brushing human bodies into canvases of moving art.
